We hiked this on Saturday afternoon (2:30ish) of Labor Day weekend. There were three spots in the parking lot, but many were parked along the drive from the highway. The vault toilets were pretty clean and had toilet paper!
There is a lovely sandy beach towards the east, and many families were enjoying that area.
Walking to the west of the toilets towards the river, you can take a quick peek (and photo) of the pipeline bridge. Then head towards the "Road Closed" gate to find the actual trail to the bridge. The bridge is really interesting with great views up and down river.
The trail is fairly dusty, as you'd expect this time of year. The trail stays mostly in the trees, so it is nice and shady but not many river views. You can step off trail and peek through the trees in quite a few spots, though. Towards the end, the trail scampers over rock faces and you get better views of the river as well as Castle Rock climbers.
We passed quite a few people coming in and out and one dog on leash. Everyone was very courteous and we only saw one poop bag along the trail.
