I decided to do a Transit Trek to Bloedel Reserve, but when I arrived on Bainbridge Island, the wait for a BI Ride was 2 hours.
I hadn't done the west portion of the Waterfront Trail, so I headed on the trail towards Waterfront Park. There is a map of the Waterfront Trail on the bainbridgeisland.com website that shows the route along with significant trees and historic sites along the way. After the park, the trail follows Madison Ave past the first church built on the island and some historic homes.
At the corner of Parffit Way and Wood Ave, it's worth detouring through small Red Pine Park. There is an apple orchard, pea patch and grassy area.
Further on, the map shows Strawberry Plant Park, but the new name of the park is Moritani Preserve. The Hayano Trail leads through the park. This would be a great park for hide and seek with grassy areas and clusters of trees. There is also a historical sign about the Japanese-American Farms on Bainbridge Island.
