Hiked west along the beach for ¾ miles (another ¼ mile might have gotten us to the boat ramp at Cultus Bay). Also checked out the loop trail, with the side trail to the viewpoint
Road Conditions. Paved road. Portable toilet down at the picnic area above the beach.
Trail Conditions. No obstacles, but the loop trail had steep sections that could be slippery when too wet or too dry. Even with the tide at ~7 feet, there was enough beach to walk comfortably, if you don't mind some pebbles.
Highlights. Several orcas were seen heading south through Possession Sound (after holding up the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry earlier).
Crowds. 3/8 parking spots available when we arrived just after 10 AM. Half a dozen parties on the beach ogling the whales, and one other party on the loop trail.
