A quick day trip into the Lower Skokomish river area, as the days are growing short and there was a fair amount of rain.
We hiked from the Le Bar trailhead to just past the first camping area, then doubled back to that area for lunch under a large cedar just as the rain was picking up momentum.
Thankfully, it let up enough on the return trip back up to keep it magical and meditative. There are still many mushrooms about, including the purple ones. The current fall color everywhere mixed with the quintessential Olympic green hues make for a very striking experience overall.
Per the usual, many cars seen but not really many hikers. I think people do a lot of off trail exploring in this area perhaps.
