Trail Conditions

Obstacles on trail:
    Muddy or wet trail.
Started down to the beach from the campground and found that the trail is blocked off just under the bridge. (no trespassing) Turns out the EPA had closed the entire beach for a diesel fuel spill. Oh well, went back to the campsite to do lunch then try the upper portion of the park. This area was well maintained. There are a few muddy spots along the trail. Otherwise this was a great hike. Plenty of spring flowers. One hiker we came across said he saw a coyote further up the trail. Didn't know there were coyotes in this area. Plenty of squirrels and bird too. We even saw a pileated woodpecker.(ha ha ha HA ha). There are 4 trailheads for this area. 2 in the campground and the others in residential areas. One trailhead is at the dash point highland park. The last is on the oposite side of the park. See the Wa state park for a very accurate trail map. You will need this map as it is very easy to get lost on this trail, I did last year with a 5 and 3 year old. You can even get a map at the ranger station on the day use side of the park.
