Wallace Falls State Park - Greg Ball Trail to Wallace Lake — Friday, Dec. 17, 2010

Mt. Stickney from Wallace Lake
As antidote to symptoms of Seasonal Hiking Withdrawal, the Greg Ball trail delivers. A well-loved urban trail in the summer, it is nearly deserted the week before Christmas, despite mild weather and clear skies. A stiff wind was blowing through the new clear-cut near the lake, and the Buffleheads were surfing whitecaps, but it was a beautiful day.

The picture is not of Mount Stickney, but rather that of the westernmost point of Ragged Ridge. Mount Stickney lies to the left, across the valley.
