Trip Report

Snoquera Falls Loop — Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
Fall colors near the beginning of the trail
This was a perfect hike to do on a drizzly day. A lot of time in the woods, which provides some rain protection, but also enough time out of the deep woods to keep me interested. The trail conditions were great, its right next to a boy scout camp, so I suspect that the boy scouts help to maintain it. their work was appreciated by us. Lots of fall colors, and its always nice to do a loop rather than have to walk the same way back down. We also did the interpretive trail at the end of the hike. The one thing I should point out, is that this time of year, there is no waterfall! Route finding - go to the other side of the amphitheater and avoid the interpretive trail (if you see signposts #1, 2, 3... go back and take the next trail). At the junction for Snoquera Falls and White River Trails, take the high road... I think they do eventually meet up but it wasn't clear how/when the White River Trail looped back up to meet the Snoquera trail. At the waterfall - scramble across, and you will find the loop path continuation. At the bottom of the mountain after coming down via the loop trail, when you get to the White River Trail, turn left back toward the Scout camp. You're almost back when you see archery ranges and cabins.
