When you get foiled trying to climb St. Helens for the third year running, and trees are being blown down in the backcountry, a riverside walk sounds pretty nice, though not quite as physically demanding. This riverfront walk was nice in the rain and the shine, both of which I got today. I saw runners, walkers, and dogs, as well as fishermen, and one woman who made the smartest decision, probably...after fifteen steps down the trail in the blowing wind and rain, she turned around and muttered, "Maybe some other time" as she headed back into her house. luckily my coat was waterprooof, so I soldiered on, and was rewarded with sunshine shortly after.
