Trip Report

Teneriffe Falls, Mount Teneriffe — Saturday, May. 7, 2016

Snoqualmie Region
Kamikaze falls.
We took the "short route" to Mt. Tenerife. The initial hike is to Kamikaze Falls: Miles 1-2: very gentle, trail extremely well-maintained and not much incline Mile 3: some incline over light switchbacks It's at about mile 3 you get to Kamikaze Falls. If you continue ascending and stay to the right of the falls, you'll find a trail that continues upward. If you take this trail for 1-1.2 miles, you will end up at the summit of Mt. Tenerife. Be advised that you gain almost 3000ft. in this one mile. Prepare for a slow march up and bring trekking poles for the way back down. It took us something like 90 minutes just to complete this mile due to the extreme climb. But aside from the leg and butt workout it's a wonderful and uncrowded trail. Challenging and rewarding. The views from Mt. Tenerife are incredible...360 degrees. We could see downtown Seattle, downtown Bellevue, Mt. Rainier, and of course the haystack at Mt. Si. Parking: very limited. We paid a neighbor guy $10 to park in his driveway. Bugs: some mosquitos were out, bug spray is a good idea. More bugs towards the top where there's snow melt.
The final peak at the top.
View facing Mt. Rainier from the summit. 360 degree views.
The pushpin on the map represents Kamikaze Falls. The bottom end of the route is the car park and the top is the summit.

thanks Mike - just started using Gaia app. pricey for an app ($20), but seemed to work really well. downloads the USFS (and other) topographic information to your device, then allows you to set waypoints, take photos, and generally breadcrumb your way around.

We thought we had found that boot trail up but got lost. Can you tell me about where you find it? Is it right by the falls??

If memory serves it is pretty close to the falls, and not super well-defined. This time of year especially I bet it would be difficult to find.
