Palouse to Cascades Trail - Rattlesnake Lake — Monday, Sep. 5, 2016
Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
I found it! Another perfect running spot. The John Wayne trail was completely flat, well-maintained, and wide enough to let me pass other hikers with enough room leftover for a bicyclist to pass, too. The mountain views were perfect, despite the whooshing sound of cars (was that I-90?) just below. I ran just under 11 miles - from the Cedar Falls trailhead out and back 5.5 miles. I took a detour down to the Twin Falls and saw the bottom of the falls about half a mile down the path, but I wanted to get back to running so I didn't explore any further.
Lots of families out for Labor Day, but nobody swimming in the lake. (I know it was 60 degrees, but my family used to swim in the Great Lakes in colder conditions!!) My only complaint was an angry driver who reved her engine at me as I used the pedestrian crosswalk to get back to my car. It is probably best to ignore the ego and find the good in people no matter what. Roughly a 40-minute drive from the city (or at least Queen Anne).
