Wow, what a hike. My two friends and I set out on a grand adventure to Tuck & Robin Lakes for a two night backpack. None of us had done the hike before but the pictures online sold us.
We started hiking around 8:30 and in 3 hours we made it to Tuck Lake. We were surprised by our rapid ascent, thinking that with all the elevation and weight it would take us longer. We stopped at Tuck pumped some water and ate lunch. A couple of other hikers gave us some beta on the hike to Robin Lakes and then we were climbing straight up again. From Tuck Lake we hiked for one hour before making it to the ridge looking down on the beautiful Robin Lakes. We were again surprised by the little amount of time that it took us to make the final ascent.
No words can describe the beauty, you just have to go there. We had time to chill so we sat on a rock overlooking the lake and rested for a few hours before finding our camp spot.
The next morning we wanted to move our campsite to the "ideal" location in between the two lakes, so when the other group left we dropped our stuff, set up camp and then hiked to the top of Granite Mountain. It was so worth the burning legs. There were a couple of steep snow fields to cross but if you go in the middle of the day the snow is soft enough to make really nice steps. At the top we had a 360 view of mountains, again, you just have to go and experience the glory for yourself.
All in all it took us around 5 hours to get to Robin Lakes (with lunch & water breaks) and it took us 4 hours to get down.
Bugs were almost non-exsistent at the lake which we were SO happy about. But by the end of our stay they were starting to make an appearance. This may be the last couple days of minimal bugs.
Best backpacking trip I have ever done, beautiful weather, stunning views and great company! Cheers!
