Mount Rainier Area

My first hike-a-thon!

I took my mom and daughter to check out the flower show and it was awesome!  We started at Tipsoo Lake and made a clockwise loop.  The trail is in great shape.  Mostly dry, dusty dirt with just a few rocky areas.  I thought of Maddy's trip reports as I kicked a few rocks off the trail.

We saw lots of chipmunks.  We missed the goat up on the hill but a father and son shared their binoculars so we could see a beautiful elk down in the valley.

it was such a pretty hike.  Flowers everywhere and the smoky haze was pretty too. As the sun set Rainier became visible.

We heard the constant buzz from the bugs and used a ton of bug spray but those mosquitos are hungry! My best advice is to dose up on deet and keep moving.  It's unanimous though... even with the haze and skeeters, it's still totally worth the trip.  This place is awesome!

I've joined hikeathon because I love being out in the woods and WTA helps me  get there.  If you love trip reports and log bridges and stone steps and trails that don't require machetes, please consider making a donation. Thank you!

Very nice pics! You've really stepped it up in the photo dept!
The smoke did make for some interesting lighting. I like the pic of Rainier with the upward shadow.

Thank you. I've done 3 Rainier hikes recently that just take your breath away.
