I arrived at Rattlesnake Park around 10:30 AM, and found the park busy, but there was still plenty of parking available. I didn't expect the .3 mile or so hike to the actual trailhead, but it was flat and graveled and not too bad. Out at the trailhead, there is garbage and recycling and bathrooms available. The hike begins easy enough but soon settles into a steady upward grade that persists for the entire hike.
The trail was absolutely packed despite being a weekday. Not everyone practices good etiquette, but most people did, and everyone was very cheerful. The first half of the hike was very warm, but it gets better once the trail switchbacks around the side of the mountain into more coniferous growth, which provides more shade.
There aren't a lot of ideal spots for breaks along the trails such as benches or flat rocks, so I recommend taking advantage of those you find when you need them.
The top was great, lots of people hanging out and eating lunch. Coming down is all downhill, which can be unexpectedly tiring.
There appears to be little access to natural water. I saw several streambeds, but they were all dried out. Recommend you carry in what you need and not expect to be able to filter anything. Trail was rougher than I expected from the reports. It can be rocky at times, so you have to pay attention to your footing. Some places are also experiencing erosion and if you aren't careful you might find the side of the trail giving way underneath you.
