Question: The guide above says that if you make a loop going up Necklace Valley and coming down by Big Heart Lake, "From either one may gain the West Fork of the Foss River. This trail will join Road #68 just one mile south of where your car is parked at the east fork trailhead!"
The Green Trails Map appears to me to indicate you would be more like 3 miles from your car.
Can someone clarify this?

I'm confused by that quoted text, but the east and west foss TH are a pretty good clip apart.. if that's what you mean. I can't say specifically 3 mi or what, but I know driving wise (having visited both numerous times) it's a hefty distance, at least in terms of 'just getting back to the car'.

I did a google maps point to point on the road, approximating the east TH within a couple hundred feet, and it says 2.3 mi.
