Misty, overcast, drizzle of snow and forceful waterfalls.
We started with the Snoquera Loop per the marked signage at Camp Sheppard parking lot.
Starting off with a sweet amphitheatre within a few hundred feet and continuing as a pretty straightforward trail, gentle yet steady climb. Rush of water at the base of the falls. I wasn’t expecting a water crossing here (read previous trip reports about the creek crossing on Palisades trail). It was a bit unnerving initially yet on hindsight it seemed naturally a function of snowmelt combined with recent rains. A few hikers turned around at this point to make it an out & back trip. Poles were helpful in both crossings (i.e, at Snoquera base as well as on the route up Palisades). From there on it was a nice descent to complete the loop.
At the junction marked Palisade Trails (the signage is dislocated from the trail pole so be sure to look on ground for it), make the right to Dalles Falls. The lower falls viewpoint was beautiful and so close one can almost touch it! The Pallisades trail itself goes further up but we turned around at this viewpoint.
All in all a nice 6.6mile roundtrip.
