Got dropped off at prince creek around 11am with only two other groups! One was I’m assuming a couple and the others were a group of five friends. Whom of which, we ended up meeting and hanging out here and there through out the weekend. Overall fantastic hike. However, if I were to do it in the future I would skip the first 11 miles and just start at moors point.
First day;
the first day was by far the hardest, with out the overcast and periodic rain I don’t think I could have done it in one day. It’s where all the elevation gain(S) are and it’s completely exposed. The constant up and down in elevation was more than I anticipated. However we made it to moors point after 7 hours. My friend and I took two half hour breaks and a couple short ones, it was the both of ours first time in a year doing a backpacking trip. the group before us did it in 6.
Day two.
We did this part in under four hours, we also took a 30 minute to eat and take in views. We also played trail tag with the group of 5 which was kind of fun to get to talk to them and everything. This part of the trail is so cool, you have amazing views. It seems like every half hour hour changing the type of landscape your walking through, tropical forest, old growth new growth, desert, you name it. Once in stehekin we booked it to the ranger station and scored the last actual camping spot in The Valley, so no lawn camping for us!! We then set up camp, ate lunch and rented bikes. We went to the bakery (ran into an old friend from chelan Highschool that I hadn’t seen in 12 years), old school house and then the falls. All in all it was probably 7-10 miles round trip. Then had dinner and I drank some beer and took in the sunset.
day three,
we walked to the bakery, which is easily doable, went to the organic farm and got some apricots and then took down camp and then took the fairy home.
Lots of wild flowers and wild life. I could not have had a better backing trip to start the season with.
