Love this hike. Last time I did it, it was raining. So it was a welcome change to actually get to see the views! Arrived at 8am on a Monday to 10-15 cars in the lot, many of which seemed to be overnighters. Pit toilet in good shape. As others have said, the trail gains its elevation quite gradually, for the most part and is in good condition. A few, extremely easily managed stream crossings. If you start early enough before the sun gets up over the mountain, you’ll be in shade most of the way, which is really nice on hot days like today. The trail opens up and the views and wildflowers really begin about 4.5 miles in. If you’re nervous about the Katwalk itself, give it a try! It’s wider than it looks. Arrived back to a 95% full parking lot.
