Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

Sing this:  "The hills are alive with the sight of bear grass."  Not quite as poetic as Sound of Music lyrics.  In my decades of hiking the PNW, I've never seen so much bear grass.

Because of time constraints, I was not able to hike to the top.  Others reported snow in the final ascent.

Bugs were a non-issue until above tree line.  As usual, flowers--in this case the ubiquitous bear grass--inevitably come with bugs.  Mostly biting flies.  Also lupine and penstemon but the bear grass is the main event.

I arrived at the TH ~11 AM.  The lot was full but I was the first car parking just beyond the lot on the side of the road.  I encountered many fewer hikers than the parking lot would lead one to believe so I suppose many were heading to Pratt Lake?

This is not an easy trail for these 73-yr. old legs.  Rocky and uneven, once above tree line.  Also, steep, roughly 1000'/mi.  But the bear grass was worth it, even if I didn't make it to the top.

If you like bear grass, now's the time to go and this is a great place to see them.  (See pic below.)
