Eastern Washington
New kiosk at the start of the trail

I was in the area and realized it has been 13 years (to the day!) since my first visit here. I remember seeing a mariposa lily here on that first trip and decided to stop by in hope of seeing another. I spotted my first within a half mile, and then found more and more along the trail! Turns out even desert flowers love a wet spring. I was about a month too late for peak bloom on the lupine, but spotted a few lingering purple flowers. Next year I need to remember to try to visit in June or early July, but there are still an impressive number of wildflowers now. It’s also incredibly green throughout. This is a great little loop hike!

There is also a CXT and short accessible trail near the parking lot that I don't remember seeing the last time I was here, plus a new trail kiosk at the entrance to Mill Butte.

This was hike #3 for me for this year's Hike-a-Thon. View my fundraising page here.
