Trip Report

Granite Mountain — Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022

Snoqualmie Region
It was misty and damp in the basin just before the summit.

Went on a weirdly cool day in this late summer season. The mountains were completely clouded over and the temps were in the 50–60s. We made it to the parking lot a bit after 8 am. It was already pretty full at this time, so prepare to arrive early for the best parking spots.

The meadows no longer had wildflowers but there were ripe berries — we passed a few people collecting them in little buckets. Despite the weather not permitting expansive views of the nearby mountains, the climb was definitely a good workout. Some spots are quite steep.

After a 2.25 hr climb, we made it to the lookout. Unfortunately, there weren't any views of nearby peaks — all were shrouded in mist. After a quick break at the top, we made our way back to the parking lot about 12:30 pm.

The lookout was shrouded in the mist. Sadly, no views of nearby peaks.
