Mount Rainier Area
Tatoosh from the bottom of Mazama Ridge meadows

First, a reminder that the road from Longmire to Paradise is currently only open on weekends.

We snowshoed from Narada falls and split from the Reflection Lakes trail to climb Mazama Ridge (WTA does not seem to have an entry for this option). The trail split at the ridge crest is unsigned but obvious, with the ridge climb veering to the left at about [46.77472, -121.73684]. We went up a little over 2.5 miles from the start to a wide open area with fantastic views of Rainier, the Tatoosh range and mountains to the East. Elevation gain was around 1200 feet.

Conditions were close to ideal, with maybe 15 inches of light recent powder, blue sunny skies, 30 degrees and almost no wind.

The Paradise road was plowed and mostly sanded, but icy in spots. Two-wheel drive vehicles were required to chain up. Saw one car spin out and ditch into the snow bank near Kautz Creek before Longmire. About 20 cars in the Narada Falls parking lot at 10:30am. The heated Comfort Station there is open.
