Mount Si — Dec. 31, 2007

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

The good news is that it was dry on Mt. Si today. The bad news is that near the summit the wind blew you over, or at least that are the reports I got from those who were brave enough [stupid enough?] to go to the summit. I turned around at Mile 3.5 when the trees began to significantly bend over in steadily strengthening winds. Remembering the woman who was killed a year or so ago on Rattlesnake Ridge by a flying branch convinced ""grandpa"" that it would be prudent to turn around. Also traction devices are highly recommend because the trail starts to ice over around Mile 1.5. It is truly amazing how many dog owners are apparently illiterate because they obviously cannot read the large sign at the start of the trail: DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH. A female dog owner got very upset when I told her what I thought about her ability to read after her mutt nearly tripped me on the ice by silently running between my feet.
