Being not too far the city, this state park provides a fairly accessible car camping option with nice views of the water even in the campsite. However, depending on your campsite spot it can get quite windy so keep that in mind if you are using a tent. 

The beach itself is very pretty and tons of room for kids to play around, fly a kite, etc. Overall a great getaway if you have small kids.
