Perfect weather for a little hike up to Butte Camp! The trail was in great condition with only two trees down that were easy to get around. Upon reaching the junction with that Loowit trail, be aware there's some unstable snow here that can be a little treacherous to cross without poles.

Fabulous hike and destination. Trail in great condition, the meadow 3mi in was mostly snow-free, water running and very few bugs, which was a wonder! Going up the crux, the steep headwall to the blast zone was made easier, due to again, a great trail surface. Once on top, the next 20 minutes was tedious snowbank travel to the Loowit trail junction, where it was mostly bare ground again, but enough in the way of snowbanks to provide a good trickle of water. Beautiful area, pretty quiet, too. Saw the occasional trail runner, day hiker and circuit hikers, but long stretches of solitude and silence.

Trail in good condition except for one tree over the trail, but fairly easy to get over/around. Water is flowing cold and clear at the camp area. Great views, but wildfire smoke hindered our views today. We wore bug spray and bugs were not a problem except for one persistent fly. One of my favorite hikes!
