Whidbey seemed to have somewhat better weather today, so I decided to try my luck there. One can’t go wrong with Ebey’s landing, even when hail hits mid-hike.
Cemetery lot was half full, restrooms were open and stocked.
Trail expectedly had some muddy spots, but never too bad. I was surprised to discover a trail that actually follows periphery of Perego’s lagoon. I guess previous times I always walked along the beach, but it would not be possible today due to high tide and waves.
As I was was following the lowland trail, a weather system arrived that brought pouring rain and even hail. At least now I know my waterproofs are really waterproof. As it was leaving, it created an incredible scenery with all different blue hues of water.
A few eagles were out and about, including a huge bald eagle. Tons of kelps on the beach. Heads up there was also a decaying seal corpse on the beach not too far from the lower parking lot (in case you find it disturbing or unpleasant).

A surprise mild day sent us out to Ebey's Landing for a stroll. The top of the bluff is in excellent condition and the beach was still walkable even around 1pm even with a very high tide (+9) having just occurred at 11:15am.
Lots of waterfowl in the lagoon.
All the big mountains were visible from the bluff top: Baker, Glacier, Rainier and the Olympics.
There was some dog poop left (unbagged), but other than that very pleasant walking, which I'd recommend for the fall and winter day ahead.
