Through the Mist
My dog and I hiked to Lake 22 on a foggy fall day. We reached the lake only to find that we had about 10 feet of visibility. I decided to go just a little bit further to see if we could find any good photo opportunities and saw this giant rock which my dog climbed up on. After that I almost decided to turn around and head back down the mountain, but when I looked up the fog started clearing. First the trees atop the mountain on the other side, then the gorgeous turquoise lake appeared. If I had decided to go instead of press on or if I had come at an earlier time, I might have missed seeing the lake altogether.

A view of the top along the Marmot Pass Trail. A fantastic place to view of flowers, snow capped mountains in a well known dry section of Olympic National Forest of The Buckhorn Wilderness.

I caught this sunset while hiking the Joseph Whidbey State Park Trail down to the beach. A beautiful sunset with a Blue Heron enjoying the sunset also.

Al on Mt. Hinman
10 hr. ascent, leisurely. Summit bivouac. A corgi fits inside your sleeping bag; toasty. This hike is perhaps better slightly earlier -- snow cover is more dog-friendly than rocky talus.
Mt. Hinman
oops, double post, sorry.
Blitz on Mount Defiance!
After getting all the way up to the top of Mount Defiance, he started looking for resting areas on the way back down--here's a particularly scenic one!

Unimpressed by the inedible grandeur of Nature
Can't eat it, sniff it, chew it, or roll in it. Useless. Seems sorta cool anyway.
Half of life is simply showing up...
