Larches in the North Cascades
Although this photo is a few months old now and the Cascades, along with this hike, are covered in snow, it's never to late to enjoy a picture of golden larches!

Hello There.
An amiable salamander greets the camera in East Twin Lake on Mount Constitution, the high point of the San Juan Islands.
Sahali Arm
This panoramic was taken early in the morning from Sahali Camp. The views from Sahali camp and Mountain are among the most spectacular I have ever seen. Peak after peak of rugged mountains stretching as far as you can see. This can be just a day hike and is a must do if you haven't been there!!!
Butterfly delight - Ptarmigan Ridge

Unwary bee 'beecomes' dinner
I was trying to capture bees on flowers when I found this one being slowly eaten by a spider lurking in the flowers.
Identifying assistance, please?!
I encountered this flower, which I've never seen before, hiking along the County Line trail up to the pass overlooking Lake Ann in the Teanaway. It looks like perhaps some sort of anemone? Any identifying assistance would be appreciated!
Beautiful Tweedy's Lewisia
This was one of the prettiest Tweedy's bouquets seen along the Mills Canyon Road.
Unfurled Fiddle Fern
Looks like sea horses to me...
Spiderweb covered in dew
This was one of the many spiderwebs I found on the abandoned oil truck at the end of NF-9021 (accessible to hikers via the Zig Zag trail or dirt bikers via NF-9020/NF-9021).

Daisy Heart
I was in the Olympics with a friend ,and there was a light rain creating awesome drops on all the flowers took a close up on a daisy and we instantly noticed the drop in the center was shaped like a perfect HEART..
Bird's Nest Fungus
We saw this beautiful group pf bird's nest fungus along the Porter Falls Trail.
Closeup
I'd assume of a Western Trillium, but this flower has four petals instead of three.
Lichen growing in fall forest duff
This was taken in the small forested area of Lighthouse Point at Bowman Bay.
Ice Beads
This was taken on the way to Copper Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness on a very cold day. The water that normally beads up froze.
Pacific Giant Salamander, Dicamptodon tenebrosus
This adorable ~10 in long salamander did not flinch despite a gentle stroke as I tested for a sign of life. Eventually I detected breathing and gentle oscillation of the head, though the eyelids never moved. Note the wound on the back--I found this very disturbing. I did not hear any barking. It seemed so odd to find him right on the wide trail, high above the river.
Weeping Shelf Fungus
It is always such fun to photograph fungus in the fall. I loved the contrast in textures, shapes and sizes here.
