From the meadows near the top of Sourdough Mountain, Diablo Lakes turquoise color shines. Highway 20’s serpentine route is revealed and the peaks of the North Cascades stand tall and proud.

The tide was higher than usual, but before calling it a night I camped out on a piece of large driftwood and spent some time watching the stars and crashing waves.
