Stop and watch a butterfly

A snail happy for spring

Summer at last! the Butterwort is blooming at Cape Disappointment State Park at the top of McKenzie Head on the Coastal Forest Loop!

This was a hard shot to get. I wanted the focus perfect. It took a few tries but I got it!

When I show this picture to people, half think it was taken under water. These little ferry trumpets were growing on a mossy rock on Goat Mountain Trail off Hannegan Pass Road by Mount Baker. Can you find the bubble of water?

Fall color beginning to turn hues, subtle color shifts beautiful to observe. Gentle waterfall running throughout.

Slow hikers are lucky to sometimes see the small stuff that others miss.

A misty day on the mountain causes you to take a closer look at what's in front of you!

This butterfly held still long enough for a photo, most unusual for a butterfly. I think it is a checkerspot.

This tiny blue eyed Mary was found beside my foot while I was taking another picture.

This close up of the spotted coralroot really shows that it's a member of the orchid family.

Because building cairns is just fun.

I wanted to get a nice picture of the flowers on a vine maple. When I got home and looked at my pictures, I was surprised to see the crab spider on one of the flowers! You can even see it's buggy little eyes!

Nice day hike with the friends to lake Ingalls. Breathtaking may be an understatement.
