Lazuli Bunting

We saw many lazuli buntings in Umtanum Creek Canyon and on the trail which takes you to the top of the ridge .

Iron Peak

Happy hikers on Iron's summit ridge.

From Table Mountain

An incredible sunrise seen from the top of Table Mountain. Though difficult, this hike is a must for anyone living near the Columbia River Gorge. It offers amazing vies of the gorge and Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, and even Mt. Jefferson!

Bear grass on Bandera

Wildflowers in bloom gives hikers an excellent excuse to stop and breathe (aka "take photos") on the steep trail up Bandera Mountain.

On the Rocks

Two streams of water cascade downward at Lower Bridal Veil Falls, on the Lake Serene trail. Taken with a Nikon S8200, exposure 1/125 sec, aperture f/3.8, ISO 100, and converted to grayscale.

Fremont Lookout

Hiking on the (snow-free!) traverse to the Fremont Lookout on the first open day at Sunrise.

Mt. St. Helens, Johnston Ridge

Paintbrush and penstemon add vibrant color to the otherwise bleak environment. These flowers dominated the landscape along the Boundary Trail as we hiked toward Harry's Ridge from the Johnston Ridge Observatory
