log jamon South fork Agnes Creek at Hemlock camp. It's this, or the detour up the creek, & we'll take the official PCT

Amazing Bear Grass

Clumps of Bear grass charmigly line the trail over Cloudy Pass to Lyman Lake

Exausted Ollie

Taking a lunch break on the way back to our car Ollie curled up in a ball to rest with us.

Mount St. Helens

This photo taken from the junction of the Boundary and Hummocks Trails near Mount St. Helens. It was a sunny, and unusually warm January day.

God's Paintbrush at 2nd Beach

Blue skies, puffy clouds, high tides, sunset -- the perfect storm for a stunningly spectacular sunset at 2nd Beach, La Push. It made the hike up the trail in the dark worth it. Photo Details: HDR, Nikon D700, Sigma 12-24 lens, f-16, ISO 200, bracketed at 1/13th, 1/26th and 1/6th.

Ice Cycles over Big Creek

Just off SR 119 ice cycles were forming over Big Creek in Olympic National Forest. The movement of the water added to the stationary ice cycles for an interesting subject. Nikon 7000, Nikon 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens.

Short-eared Owl

One of many short-eared owls flying over the Welts-Samish Restoration Site, better know as the West 90 to birders!

Into the light

While snowshoeing the Mazama loop trail, I purposely overexposed some shots in the bright sunlight. This one was begging for an injection of saturated color.

UFO cloud

Mt. Rainier's commonly-seen cloud cap left its summit position.

Ruby Beach

The original plan was to go on a short hike in the Olympics, but I missed my turn and found this beautiful place instead. My day was not wasted at all. Ruby Beach is beautiful!
