Great day on the trail. Trail to Lower Lena Lake is in great condition, only one small area where water is on the trail. Got to enjoy Lunch Rock in the sun before heading on down. Arrived at 930 on Saturday and there were 10 cars in the lot. Much busier when we left at 130. Really enjoyed the trail today.

Trail to Lena Lake was completely free of flooding.
No snow until ~4,200 feet, just below Upper Lena Lake. Deep snow immediately from there all the way up. Snowshoes massively useful. Deep snow on all surrounding peaks (Lena and Bretherton). Avy knowledge and gear important if venturing above Upper Lena Lake.

At about 2 miles in, when you get to that beautiful boulder meadow, where the river usually goes underground, it is currently about two or 3 feet deep and running fast. We went off trail, upstream, and found a safe crossing, but we decided to turn back anyway, because we weren’t sure if the way down to the trail from the opposite side was going to be manageable for our group.
