Road is not open yet to artist point but the drive up to the Bagley Lakes parking lot was beautiful. Flowers all along the drive starting in Glacier. Driving up you would not think there was that much snow up there but there was. We went about .75 miles out on the Bagley Lakes trail before we turned around. We had seen people crossing snow bridges over the creek to the chain lakes side but decided against it. I wore micro spikes and post holed a few times. Trail is hard to find. There are sections of trail you can see and somewhat of a path, but once you get going, you notice the exposed trail somewhere else. Some yellow violets and Heather just starting to bloom! I’m looking forward to the next time we come in July. I’d say another few weeks before the snow melts out. Traction and navigational skills highly recommended.

Kids had a blast glissading down some sections.

Beautiful day at Bagley Lakes, road was plowed and snow free. The trail was 100% snow covered. The snow is soft and melty so snowshoes are recommended but I was able to make it with just boots with moderate post holing.

Spectacular day for fall colors. We got to the parking lot about 10:15 and it surprisingly wasn't that bad car-wise yet. Hiked the loop with my 2.5yo. Mostly easy, a couple spots where I carried him across for ease with rocks or puddles. The trail was busier down by the stone bridge since the trail intersects with a couple others and everyone was taking pictures, but other than that it wasn't bad. I think most people were going up to Artist Point. Breezy at the start but shed layers as we went along (although I had our pack, and then the last bit the toddler was in the pack). Stopped for a snack about 1/3 of the way because, you know, toddlers. Parking lot was definitely fuller when we got back to the car around 12. Amazing colors right now, just gorgeous.

Snow starting to come down to the trail. Will definitely start to see more soon. A couple groups not following LNT which was frustrating and reminder to not walk on the plants! Stay on the trail. The plants have such a short grow season it takes a long time for them to grow back

A school outing to the Heather Meadows Visitors Center was a good excuse to get the whole family out on the trail.  These are great hikes for families and the weather was fantastic.  We started from Heather Meadows and hiked the north side of the Bagley Lakes Loop.  At the second lake we stopped for cheese and apples, then crossed the stone arches and headed up the spur trail past Austin Pass Lake.

At the visitors center we took the Fire and Ice Loop around Terminal Lake, meeting up with the school group at the picnic area.  From there we drove up to Artists Point, driving around and around the packed parking lot until someone left.  The in-laws pooped out so we had to hussle back before we made it all the way to Huntoon Point.

Lots of great lake reflections of majestic mountains, hanging glaciers, and jagged peaks. Great to see so many happy young faces enjoying nature.
