Beautiful day for a hike on the Boulder River trail. 3.6 mile road from the highway to the trailhead had a lot of potholes, but it was easy to navigate with some care. Trail was a bit muddy and wet, but not bad at all. The waterfalls early in the hike are stunning, and we found a nice sunny spot at the end of the trail (at the river) for lunch. 9 miles round trip, with a bit of up and down. Great early season day hike!

So glad we were able to finally backpack this trail! Arrived at the parking lot around 4PM with plenty of parking and headed in to find a waterlogged trail. Lots of stream crossings (I slipped in one - would recommend poles if you're not sure-footed) and mud but overall wonderful.
Camped at the site on the river, had an incident with mice getting into a snack bag the wad left out while we were setting up camp but otherwise no issues with wildlife. Highly recommend a bear can or hanging your food if you decide to camp out.

Thanks to the folks that cleared the road. Now....if the potholes could only be filled in. The road is pretty bad. I have a Prius, 5" of clearance, loaded with 4 hikers, and bottomed out 4x in spite of being very careful. Nasty road for cars like that.
The trail is gorgeous, exceeds expectation. The forest is a wonderfully green and lush. The rivers is striking, and a pretty constant presence on the whole time. This is not a 'destination' hike. The hike is the destination. Take time to explore the side trails to the waterfalls and views.

We arrived not looking at the trip report the day before, and realized that there was a log down and blocking our path to park at the trail head. With a little bit of maneuvering with our vehicle and pulling the log by hand, we were able to remove the obstruction and everybody should be able to make it quiet freely to park now.

Road is blocked by a fallen tree approximately 0.75mi from the trailhead. There is what appears to be a crashed Honda minivan with someone living inside just before this.
The hike it self was great, wet and muddy but with a light dusting from the morning it was a snowy good time! I saw no one else on trail.
