Took the kids out to Brawling Falls. Only came across two other hikers, which was wonderful for a dry Saturday afternoon. Trail has lots of salmonberry, Foxglove and foamflower decorating the edges. The stream crossings we're all manageable, even with 40 pounds of kid on my back, but it was very helpful to have poles. Came across some fresh bear scat, but didn't see any wildlife. Nice day, plenty of room for young ones to walk.

Our group of four today chose this hike and planned to meet at 10 am at the trail head.
TIPS - The road (Middle Fork) is paved and nice but look to stay LEFT at the Lake Dorothy sign. Additionally the "gate" to look for on the left at about 7.4 miles is easy to miss, not clearly marked with any trail signs, and parking on the road as written in the WTA description is dicey looking. We suggest going a bit further up the road and parking in one of two new pullouts both on the right (we parked in the one with a new, almost ready to open bathroom) and walking the short distance back to this gate.
The trail itself is good. Easy to follow and gloriously quiet and remote feeling. Saw NO other hikers and NO dogs, which is a first in over twenty hikes our group has done this year. Just two friendly bikers we chatted with at a creek crossing. We also liked the almost negligible elevation gain for the whole hike. Easy and comfortable.
We couldn't really tell which creek and falls was the final destination as described in the trail description, so we ended up going further than WTA writes about. We felt there were three really cool spots to enjoy the rushing water and weren't ever really sure which was Brawling Creek. This ended up stretching our hike to just under nine miles round trip.
Crossing the several small creeks today was not too bad, mostly just carefully stepping on rocks to navigate the water. HOWEVER. The first creek to cross (which we assumed was Blowout Creek) once you turn off the CCC road to the left, has only a log bridge over it. Its a little scary to be honest as there is plenty of water under it and some big boulders. You wouldn't want to fall there. That said, one the way back at this crossing, one of our crew DID slip as he was beginning to cross and tumbled backwards into the rocks there. Thankfully, he was not injured. We hope that a larger, less narrow bridge can replace this one before someone DOES get hurt. I've attached a picture of the bridge being crossed.
All in all though, we recommend this hike!

First time on the CCC Road trail network and we were all impressed with the the beauty of the trail and even more pleasantly surprised on the solitude we found. Started late around 1:45 in the afternoon and during the 7 mile RT we saw only a handful of hikers on the trail. For a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon we thought odd. Perhaps others overlook this jewel of a hike. Several small and some tiny stream to cross on the out and back to Brawaling creek many with with frogs that were a treat for both the 12 year old as well as the 50 year olds. Had lunch at Brawling creek and the view was amazing. While the one-mile hike up the road to the trailhead is not the most glorious start, the trail and waterfalls along the CCC road made this hike one of our local favorites.

*!!! watch out for little frogs!!! :)
2nd Time on this trail. We had a time constraint and turned around 2 miles in. I will be back to hike to the Brawling Creek waterfall. That dusty old road up and in has great over the shoulder views of the surrounding mountains as you climb! :)
Blowout Creek has a notched log bridge for crossing, a new addition since our first hike here in May of 2017. *This main crossing is where we started to see the frogs. 4 of them. 2-4 inches big. After that, any time we passed water, whether it was moving fast or slow, there were frogs!!! Step carefully. Saw 8+ frogs total.
We had to park 2 (official) pullouts beyond the parking for Blowout Creek which is fairly small. The one we parked in had a brand new bathroom (opening Summer 2019) and a newly minted trail that stayed on that side with views of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River.
6+ mountain bikers, 4 hikers, one dog coming out. On way out, 2 bikers at main crossing. 4+ people hiking up and in on the old road.
4 miles total. Less and 1 1/2 hours.
