I took a nice rainy day hike to break in some new boots, take pictures, and exercise. All objectives were met with pleasure. There was light rain throughout the morning; but with an umbrella to keep my camera dry, the rain was not a problem. There were no other hikers on the trails this morning. I'm anxious to get up into the mountains, but the mountain weather was bad and lowland hikes are good on rainy days.

So beautiful! The views are breathtaking, trails in great condition. Some of the hills can be thigh-burners but plenty of spots to take a breather. Incredible variety of views. Love how this brings the family together & we can cherish days like this forever.

Started off with a slight walk on the beach & a pier exploration & then continued on trail passing by Lottie. Weaving through all of the intersecting trails was a blast but we went a little too deep down the rabbit hole & ventured to old trails that were overgrown & took some extra effort to get through. All in all a wonderful day hike for all ages. Enjoyed the 5 miles + the slight off trail situation!

Came to Lighthouse Point with the family to see wildflowers and wildlife - and we saw both! The flowers are incredible now and we saw swallows (barn and tree), harbor seals, eagles, etc. We also saw quite a few kayakers launching from Bowman Bay. Highly recommend this little area to wow out-of-town visitors who may not be up to a rugged mountain hike but would like to see just what this area has to offer.

Nearby the better known SR 20 bridge views of Deception Pass is a simple hike at the Rosario Beach area. The loop off the Pacific NW Trail is doable for any age, but children should be watched carefully as the trail occasionally nears waterside cliffs. And the tide pools contain a plethora of life.
