What a beautiful hike! The road to the trailhead was covered with snow about .2 miles from the trailhead, so we parked on the side and walked up. There is snow covering most of the trail, and the parts that aren’t covered are very muddy and wet. The four of us made it to the flat snowfield partially up, where the view of baker is absolutely spectacular, but my boyfriend and I decided we would ascend to the summit of the butte. I’m not going to lie, without trekking poles it was hard, but we did make it. I’m so glad we did, the view of Mount Baker was incredible, and then glissading down the mountain was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had. After completing the Dock Butte trail, we quickly headed over to Blue Lake, which was mostly covered with snow. At that point we passed a group of hikers toting an American flag and some super obnoxious music playing from their speakers, so we were glad we were heading out.

The road is clear of snow almost all the way to the trailhead. We had to park around the bend from the trailhead. Snow was easy to walk in. The first part of the trail is mostly melted with some snow patches, easy to navigate. We threw on microspikes about 1.3 miles in. Glad we were tracking our route with gaia, there were no other tracks to follow on the snow.  Gps helped us stay on Route. Made it within a few hundred yards of the summit before we felt the angle got too steep to walk on safely. Still great views (a little cloudy) and a good hike. Microspikes and gaitors! Happy July!

Road was covered in snow and ice about 3.8 miles from trail head. Hiked up the road and the snow continued on for a while. Ended up aborting.

We attempted to make it up to this trailhead but could not get past the snow/slush/ice on the road. Just wanted to post this as a heads up! We were 6 miles away before we hit the snow.

Road conditions report.

Last Saturday I was going to Baker River trail and decided to check Dock Butte road, I passed intersection with Park Butte road and turned around about 4.5 or so miles before TH because of snow, I drove 4x4 lifted golf alltrack. There are were lots of trucks and snowmobilers parked along the road, but TH seems still not reachable even for trucks.
