This is a wonderful hike with the family!

A great way to wear out the kids for a good night sleep. If you add on a trip to the Grove of the Patriarchs be ready for a crowd.

Came down to this trail from Silver Falls. Extremely busy!!! We stood in line to cross the bridge and it was so long!! We were pretty much done with hiking so we decided not to finish this hike! Maybe next time!! And it wasn't even on a weekend!! Maybe another day!!

what a great hike/ walk in the woods, very definitely worth the time and patience you'll need to deal with the crowds. no strollers or wheelchairs but other than that everyone can make it if they take their time as needed. the suspension bridge should be crossed one person at a time and a line will form as families and groups meet along the way. bug repellent will be necessary soon especially at the cooler times of day. go for it and respect the LNT principles please!

The Grove of the Patriarchs Loop is a short hike that serves as one of the first stops after entering Mt. Rainier National Park from Stevens Canyon Road. Even in the late afternoon the parking lot was very full and some cars were forced to park up the road and walk back to the trail entrance. The actual trail was beautiful, but the accessibility and ease of the hike lead to it being very crowded. The trip across the suspension bridge, billed as one of the main attractions outside of the fantastic old growth trees, led to some very awkward lines, as people continued to stop on the middle of the bridge for hikes, holding up large groups trying to come and go. Once past the bridge the loop goes around the large old growth trees, complete with informational panels. It is nearly impossible to find any personal space or take a photo without other groups running through, but it is still worth the stop to the stunning old growth trees. If possible stopping during the week and at off hours would no doubt greatly improve the experience.
