Overall a good hike for early morning :) We arrived at about 7:50am, and there were already a few cars in the lot but we never ran into anyone on the trail until we were leaving at about 10:00. The incline is right at the beginning but levels out in some places! No snow, and the trails were well taken care of & not too much muddy spots!

We had a great winter hike to Little Si today. The first lot was half full when we pulled in at 9:20. The bathrooms were open and stocked with TP. We headed up the trail and took a right on the Boulder Garden Loop. This added more rocks, roots and step up down situations. Younger trail runners were out on both trails and were fine flying over the uneven terrain. The entire trail is saturated soil, mostly well drained. There were 3 downed trees to step under or go under on our route. We arrived at the summit and it was totally sunny. So we sat down on the rocks with water filled potholes and enjoyed a long lunch break basking in the sun. This felt incredibly warm for a January day. Fog type clouds obscured Mt Si view on and off. Many trail users were out all day long. We pulled out at 3:20 and it was still sunny out in Snoqualmie Valley, a few miles up I-90 towards Hwy 19 and we had thick clouds overhead. Another fantastic day out in nature with friends!

I started my hike around noon and the lot was about half full. It was raining basically the whole time and I wanted to try the boulder garden loop. I was the only one on the trail and there were many puddles and muddy spots. I was able to get around them just fine, just make sure to wear waterproof shoes. I decided to not go all the way up Little Si because the weather was getting worse by 1pm. When I got back to the lot there were only two other cars.

The low clouds, dark skies and threat of rain this morning convinced me to kick off 2026 with a short and easy hike. I reached the overflow parking lot at 9:15am and was shocked to find it empty, so I motored over to the main lot where just eight other vehicles were parked. Temps were in the mid 40s and it wasn't raining so a fleece jacket sufficed (a rain jacket was in my pack). The trail itself was wet from overnight rains, but thankfully it wasn't muddy and there were just the occasional puddles to step over. Early on I passed one hiking group on my way up, but aside from meeting a couple people who were headed back down the trail things were quiet and I had almost complete solitude. The low clouds/fog made the trail very dark and moody, which is exactly how I like this trail to be. There were no blowdowns either, just one partially fallen small tree early on that was easy to walk under.
It took me a hair over an hour to reach the top, and initially I was just above the low clouds and could see the upper half of Mount Si. For the first time in recorded history I was alone at the summit, at least for about ten minutes. There weren't any views at first, but with a little patience the clouds began to part enough to see through to downtown North Bend and out to Rattlesnake and Mount Washington. By then other hikers began to show up, and I soon surrendered the summit to them. On the way back down I passed a couple dozen people and dogs headed up, most in groups of two and all friendly, both two and four-legged. I reached the parking lot again by 11:45am with one and a half parking spaces still free. I say "half" because somebody was a parking jerk and had straddled two spaces leaving only one full space left. On the way out I glanced over at the overflow lot which was about half full.
