We started out at noon and we were done by 3 after spending lots of time at the top. It was a lovely day for it with temperatures in the 70's but the wind was still stronger than I was expecting in places. This was a great trail for gearing up for the summer after this novice spent a long winter indoors. We did see lots of little garter snakes; one that actually spooked us when it darted onto the trail right beside us.

Hiked Little Si after high winds on Mt Si made me turn back around 2.5 miles. It was raining pretty steadily throughout the hike but the trail wasn't terribly muddy and didn't have a whole lot of standing water. Getting close to the summit the wind picked up a little and the rain changed to snow for about the last .2 miles or so but the snow wasn't sticking at that elevation. There were some small branches on the ground but no big blowdowns and I didn't hear any cracking or breaking in the trees.

The good news is, it's great for kids. The bad news is, it's great for kids! Even at 10:30 in the morning, there were zero parking spots. At the top, there is an entire party going on with a good 25 people. You will not find much relaxation, but it is great if you've got a kid with your or happen to love kids. The view from the top is absolutely worth it. On a side note: I wore sneakers instead of my normal hiking boots because it's an easy trail and not muddy. I longed for the stability and thick soles of my boots about half way up.

We would have rather been skiing, but we're not willing to face the melt-freeze boilerplate and the poor snow coverage. But who can let a beautiful day go to waste. Hiked up Little Si for the first time. The TH facilities are very nice and the tread was in excellent condition with little mud. Enjoyed the Boulder Garden Loop before continuing to the summit. Lots of families and dogs on the main trail. Temps in the shade were 53 deg. and at the summit, in the sun, a balmy 70 deg. Views are partial because of the trees. Stats for this version of the hike are 6 miles and +1,930' of gross elev. gain.

Despite lots of rain recently, this trail is in great shape. Nice trek for me and the Chi (my sometimes hiking companion, a long-haired Chihuahua). This is what I call a "burst hike"--bursts of effort followed by mellow, easy-going trail. It's fun to "summit" but the view at the top is sort of ho-hum. Yes, I'm spoiled as a Washington native. I would go again if I'm looking for a quick hike with some good climbing, but the next time I'm in the area, I'll pay a visit to Little Si's big sister.
