Lovely hike. Parking lot full, but snagged last spot in overflow. Bustling trail with rock climbers, hikers, dogs, and kids - but plenty of serene moments. Multiple viewpoints with nice scenes even on an overcast day. Mostly level, with some harder uphill switchbacks, and some scrabble spots which could be a concern for anyone with mobility issues. Trail in great condition. Keep left on the way up to not get sidetracked by other connecting trails.

Trail was in good condition and it mostly uphill going up with lots of rocks and it was nice and beautiful once you reach the top beautiful view of mountains and city. Had a nice fun. for the first timers be careful when trail splits make sure you follow the down hill one at the split the sign was confusing especially when there is no one on the trail to ask. but overall very good hike. definitely recommend it.

Earth Day hike (Tuesday, April 22, 2025) on a beautiful sunny mid-week day. Arrived to overflow parking lot a little before 10:30am and lot more than 3/4 full. Two pit toilets at start of trailhead.
The trail starts up with some switchbacks, and lots of rocks, but quickly levels out around a quarter mile in. It meanders through a really lovely mossy green section near huge boulders and you come up quickly to the climbing walls. No one climbing on the way up but on the return in the afternoon saw a couple of climbers - so cool, they are so brave and talented! The last 1/2 mile again goes up up up with switchbacks.
The trail is mostly technical with rocks and roots and some fairly big rocks/steps to navigate. We had poles, helpful on the way up and the way back down. It’s a good workout to get the heart rate up, but at less than 5 miles round-trip it’s manageable for anyone who works-out regularly.
Timing to do this trail felt good weather-wise, as it was very cool most of the way which helped keep the sweat down. The sunshine felt great at the top and there are a few places for photo opportunities as you approach the top. It’s not dusty nor is it muddy on the trail right now. Good conditions.
It was busy but not too crowded - I would imagine that weekends would be crazy-busy, and personally do not enjoy that.
There were a few bugs (flies and mosquitos) already buzzing around, not too annoying but already out and about for this time of year.
Overall a good trail, a nice workout with short mileage.

Little Si’s Vault Toilet: Currently the cleanest and most toilet paper stocked I’ve ever seen at this location.
Trail Conditions: Less snow on Old Si Trail as compared to the Mount Si Trail. Dustings of snow starts in the mid 3000’, with it becoming more consistent snow where both trails intersect. Water from snow melt as you head towards the top. In my opinion, both the scramble for the back door of Little Si and the Haystack are not sticky enough to summit. Several of us took a look at it and said no thanks. Though the trails were manageable with my trail shoes and nothing else, I recommend the additional gear for comfort.
Suggested Additional Gear: Trekking poles for the snow. Gloves for playing in the cold/wet/snowish boulder field on top. Waterproof shoes/extra socks for the wet/snowy ground.
