Beware of: road conditions

The trail has a few areas of compact snow and ice, but is mainly clear and easily walked. One group left shortly before we began and we met 3 people coming in as we were returning to the TH. The falls and creek were beautiful with the snow and ice formations. A sign at the TH registry stated that Olympic National Forest is no longer collecting trail registers as they were a waste of paper, difficult to transcribe electronically, and were not a good way to keep track of hiker use. There is a website listed where one can register their hike online if they wish to do so.

Got to the trailhead around 10. We were the only car there. The trail was very easy and we were at the waterfall in no time. Saw a few people on the way down. This is a good hike for beginners or if you have kids

Hiked this Sunday afternoon(december6th2015). It was raining as we got closer and closer to Duckabush Rd. the road turned into a creek a little after the pavement ended. water was not **too** deep. Passable in a truck but a car would not have made it i dont think. We had me and my boyfriend, his sister, her husband and their 3year old. We parked at the trailhead where there was only one other car. The ground in the beginning had no standing water, but as we ascended it became puddles and small creeks along wither side of the trail. We got to the big ridge bend and passed our trailhead friends on their way back down. at this point the guys(former USMC and former Infantry) were running the trail trying to get to the waterfall we could now hear-one with the three yr old his shoulders and the other with a pack. Bit of a funny site. The rocks right before the viewing platform were slippery. Having done this hike many times i have never seen the water SO HIGH. normally you can see the bottom of the pool at the bottom but this was a raging river today. we took pictures and started the descent. By the time we got back to the truck we were drenched. So worth it. it was beautiful even though the weather was so Pacific Northwest.

Great place to take the kids! We started on the trail early, only encountered 3 other hikers and the kids had a blast! 3 & 5 yr old did great. We hiked in and out in 1hr with a lot of mini kid stops and a long rest at the top. I would recommend it for any family.
