Followed directions off the WTA app, roads and trail were in great condition. The log book at the trailhead is full. Overall a great day hike with kids, youngest is three and she made the hike no problem, a little bit of a drive but this is the best waterfall near the Hood Canal.

This trail is not used by many people which makes it all the more beautiful. The hike up to the falls area is an easy hike and does not take long at all. Once you reach the falls, the bench makes for a great view. If you are wishing to get closer, use one of the paths to descend in the bed of the river. After crossing the river, there is a collection of roots which provide footholds for climbing to the main part of the falls. Although we drove over an hour to get to this hike, the view at the end was worth it. The trail up to the falls is hike-able by all but take caution descending/ascending to the main part of the falls as most things in the area are slippery. Happy trails.

The Crew: 2 adults and 2 kids, age 7 and 5. Getting There: Google Maps led us straight there with no issues. Roads are in great condition. Weather: gray but not rainy. We wore light jackets and were comfortable. Trail Conditions: very well maintained, easy going, only a few spots where we needed to hold hands with the kids and watch footing. Terrain: Our kids usually get tired on hikes, but this trail only has a few spots that require extra effort, so they were happy and energetic the whole way. Flora: Lush! So green. The View: Plan to sit and take in the waterfall for awhile. It really is beautiful and peaceful. Overall: I gave this hike 4 stars. For active adults, I would say 3 stars - it's a great view but a pretty easy hike. For little kids, I would say 5 stars - Adventurous, fun hike that wasn't too hard, with an awesome view as a reward. If you're looking for a kid-friendly hike, look no further. Other options: The kids wanted another hike, so we went to Ranger Hole nearby. Unfortunately, we didn't have the right pass to park there, and they aren't sold at the trailhead (I think a nearby store has them). So be advised and do your homework before going. Ranger Hole is very close and could easily be done with Murhut for a fuller day of adventure!

We started out at the trailhead about 11:15 Saturday. To our surprise, the small parking area was half full. We passed 4 different groups of hikers on this nice sunny, but cold day. Note the sign in sheets are really full, but we managed to squeeze ourselves on the top sheet. From the trail, we caught a really nice view of the mountains, something we didn't see on our previous visit to Murhut Falls. The trail was in good condition (only exposed and eroded in a couple of spots) and only slightly wet. The climb is steady but not too steep. Just enough to get your blood pumping if you haven't been hiking for awhile. The falls are really flowing and were amazing! The water level is quite high and downstream from the falls, the runoff splits into 3 small, falls. We took a lot of pictures and we were back in our car in not quite an hour. If you have the time, make sure to stop at Rocky Brook Falls, also found on WTA.
