Busy on the weekends, we easily parked midweek and paid our $3.
There are portable bathrooms located at the parking area and next to the twin barns.
Take the boardwalk through the Nisqually Delta and keep a lookout for eagles, heron and other birds and wildlife.
The marsh and grasses made for a nice backdrop and reflections.
A bit over 4 miles roundtrip and accessible for all ages and abilities.
Don't forget your binoculars and camera.

If you're a birder or looking for a flat, easy walk, that can be done by anyone, then this place is worth a visit. If you're interested in the history of the area then you'll also enjoy a visit here. If you're local to the area and can get here in a little amount of time then you should visit as well.
A friend and I were looking for something chill to do today and, since I've been out in the woods and mountains a lot lately, this seemed like it would be a nice change of pace. We had good weather, albeit not sunny, and saw lots of birds, up to and including a couple of bald eagles in the distance. The trails were either wide, gravel roads, or well-maintained board walks. Due to COVID-19 there weren't any facilities open, so I don't know what might be on offer in that respect. Speaking of COVID, appropriate safety protocols were being followed by most, though not all visitors. Fortunately, when you come upon one of those groups who think masks and social distancing are infringements on their rights, you can easily move off to another spot while giving them withering looks they won't understand.
All in all I enjoyed my few hours here, but living north of Seattle and not being a birder I doubt I'll be back.

We arrived at 12:15PM (Saturday/ holiday weekend) and there weren’t t any parking spots left and though some people were leaving more people were arriving than leaving making it hard to get a spot, so we drove 15 min away to get Manic Meatballs and when we returned about an hour later the lot was still full but we were able to wait for someone to leave and snag a spot within about 5 min.
this is a well maintained boardwalk trail and though we’ve had weeks of heavy rain it wasn’t muddy on the trail or boardwalk.
of the many people we saw 99% were wearing their mask the entire time. everyone was thoughtful of social distancing
saw some birds, about a million ducks, 1 hawk, 5 eagles and a bunch of little tree birds.
the boardwalk goes wayyy out. we were obviously there during low tide as it was all mud flats but even though the trail was busy it was still pretty peaceful.
we live about an hour away and did about a 3 mile walk out here, saw probably half the park. would recommend if you’re looking for a nice stroll.
