Arrived at 9:15 parking lot 1/2 full, when we left at 11:15 parking was full and many cars waiting for folks to leave. Had a great visit and will return many more times. Lots of visitors with masks and camera lenses longer than my arm (looks heavy). Bring your binoculars!

Arrived at the refuge around noon on a Friday. The lot was mostly full and there were a lot of people on the trail. We headed out on the old barn trail and followed the boardwalk out to the Puget Sound Lookout (the last one). This trail was very easy and well-maintained for how beautiful it was. I'd be excited to come back when there is fog or snow because the landscape was so unique you'd get a different view. Also, Mt. Rainer was out! Very exciting!!!
One note was that there was a good third of the people there who weren't wearing masks, and some of them didn't even move to the side of the trail. Good thing the trail was wide. Also, the visitor's center is closed so if you need to go, there are porta-potties in the parking lot that don't smell too bad.
Happy hiking :)
From the desk of Lu age 10:
We went on this short walk after dinner which we had at the park. It’s a good 6:00 to 7:00 o’clock walk. Little to no shade. Would be a good walk with a younger child not too long, can turn around at any point. We saw two groups of some type of seal. One 0.5. Mile stretch of gravel
