Decided to finally take the long car ride from Seattle to see the falls - and we weren't disappointed. It took about 4 hours to get to the lot (if you forget, or don't have a Discovery Pass, you can park a bit further away and walk in). There are multiple viewpoints, all fenced in for safety. Plenty of people out camping there - the sky must look amazing at night! We decided to hike down a bit, as we didn't want to just look and go. The trail is not official, and it shows. There were a ton of people trying to head down on the narrow 'trail', a lot with little kids and it didn't seem like a very smart idea. We went as far as being almost over top of the falls and stopped there. You can go down into the canyon and swim (there were quite a few handful of people doing it), but as we watched people trying to get back up the tail crawling on all fours and sliding on the dirt path, we decided against it. We'll wait until there's an official, safer trail here. Otherwise, this was a great day trip! The weather was perfect, the falls were flowing, and just imagining what this used to look like thousands of years ago was mind blowing.

This is the ONE place that anyone in the entire state of WA should 100% make some time to experience. The waterfall is indescribable. No picture of any kind can do it justice compared to the beauty of witnessing it in person. I visited the waterfall early June. It was sweltering hot out but that wasn't stopping me. The trails, though they are a plenty, are not marked really at all. You just kind of have to completely find your own way. I would say that dogs would be fine if you aren't planning on trying to go down to where the waterfall meets the bottom. The hike down there can be treacherous. If your dog has done it's fair share of hikes before this I would say you could try it but just know that it may not go as planned. The entire area though is gorgeous. It doesn't matter where in the state you live or if you are simply visiting, you have GOT to check Palouse Falls out. I promise you you will not regret it.

Started raining when we reached the trailhead and we still went out for a short hike since had driven that far out. Really nice views of the falls.

There were multiple groups of marmots, which became very aggressive and starting fighting among themselves so we had to leave. Did not know there were marmots here.
