Hiked with friend and her dog.  It was cool at the beginning of the hike while in the woods.   Then it got warmer.  It’s now 85

Tuesday random day off, so I decided to start working on my 2024 ascent goal.

Weather modeling and forecasts were off. The 20% chance of rain, 0.07in between 6am and noon, and thunderstorms arriving after noon, were realized as light rain then rain on the drive out of town, mildly heavy rain whilst in the parking lot getting ready (but no point in waiting since radar showed a solid band coming up from the south), holding steady at medium drizzle, and only opening back to light rain two hours later. I foolishly added a jacket in the parking lot, foolish because it was nearly 65F and I ended up taking it off 10min later; the trees afforded ample protection.

I saw more people per hour than during eight hours hiking Friday.

The parking lot fills up quickly, and parking along the road is not allowed.  There is a nearby overflow lot on private property that costs $10.  Not sure if they Venmo or not.

The trail can be crowded and there are trail runners sometimes.

There are portable toilets at the parking area, but they can be messy.

I came there at 7:05am and the parking was already almost full. There were just 3 free spaces. The trail is well maintained. The weather was foggy in the morning, so I didn't get a great view, but it was refreshing.

Steep trail with some incredible views including watching parasailers taking off from the top. Very unique and fun time.
