Smooth hike with beautiful lush trees and ferns around you. In the end after the ascend you see a great view of the rushing chilly river. Absolutely one we will do again ! Tip: murhut falls is a few minutes down the road so we ended our day there. But, At the bridge there is a small trail that you can walk down to and enjoy the river as well!

Hiked Murhut Falls first and then Ranger Hole. There's a toilet at Ranger Hole but none at Murhut so I'd recommend Ranger Hole first. I'm thankful for the WTA driving directions, Apple Maps took us to the junction for Murhut Falls and luckily WTA said to keep going for another 1.3 miles. There are potholes on the road but it's like any unpaved road. There was only 2 other people at the trailhead for the Falls when my husband and I arrived. Well maintained trail and beautiful Falls! We enjoyed this hike- short and sweet with great views.

Ranger Hole had more vehicles and people when we arrived. The water is gorgeous! The hills are a bit steep going down and I can see why one hiker recommended poles. This was a beautiful hike as well and we enjoyed doing both together. Family friendly- we saw multiple on the trail and loved the mossy trees.

Stopped at Tides Family Restaurant for lunch on 101 S afterwards and it was delicious! Enjoyed the fish basket and Rueben. :)

Interesting, easy trail with nice views of the Duckabush River. Easy parking.

We enjoyed this short hike down to the Duckabush River. Three species of ferns line the trail and green moss lines the trees. The river is powerful and a beautiful shade of turquoise at Ranger Hole. The trail is in great shape, although the final descent is fairly steep and has loose gravel, so that part might be a bit difficult for some users. Poles would likely help.

Murhut Falls - Went here first. No outhouse or trash can at trail head so plan accordingly. This is a true family friendly hike. Short and sweet. Our crew today was 4 adults, 1 baby, 1 toddler and 2 dogs. Photo of the falls in this trip report is from the upper viewing area. From the lower area, you get sort of an obstructed view of the falls because of the trees. For us, since our toddler likes to wander, we didn't take the kiddo out of the hiking backpack since the upper area is kind of narrow and on the lower area, we didn't want any slips on the rocks. (Older kids would be fine here.) Look up and around because there are some rhodies here and there!

Ranger Hole - Went here second. Note, these trails do not have a trail that connects them. It's about 4 miles on the forest road between Murhut Falls trail head and Ranger Hole trail head so we drove between the two locations. (I suppose if you really wanted to, you could walk the forest road between the two ...) There is an outhouse (did not use.) This is another short and sweet hike. However, the trek back up from the river is very steep and I would be careful of footing because it is gravel. During rainy/muddy conditions, I would be wary of this part of the trail. (We had great sunny/clear weather!)
