I did this hike several times as a child, and went mostly for the nostalgia. The Forest Service road has plenty of small potholes. Slow down, weave between them and it's not too bad. Starting from the vehicle bridge, the trail was muddy and had plenty of puddles to navigate. A couple of trees were across the short trail to the cedar. Next time, I'd make this a longer trek and head up the other trail before crossing the bridge. Lots of fallen trees next tithe trail with moss and fungi to look at. A great little hike to get out of the house for the afternoon with a family.

Simple day trip to get the blood flowing.

This hike was mostly to do some reckoning about the the status of the mushroom season now that rainfalls have started. The views of the river are nice, and you can see how powerful the flow is affecting the rocks that lay on its path. There are a few areas of beach access, some even with water pools if you are courageous enough to jump in the glacial water! Was not hot enough of a day for us to do so!

Hiked to Staircase Rapids Loop. Everything was lush and green. All of the trails were open and passable. The trailhead was congested with lots of visitors, but it didn't detract from the majesty of the forest. Wonderful day.

Easy short hike with great views of some Rapids, a neat suspension bridge and a cool windblown big Cedar. The drive past the lake is gorgeous on the way in with some road side waterfalls. some small uphill jaunts but mostly level and fairly even ground.
