I was looking for a quick and easy hike this past weekend I found myself up near Diablo Lake. After driving around and taking in the sights I decided to do a short hike to stretch my legs before the long car ride home.
Making my way through the campgrounds was interesting as the campground was packed! I was more or less walking through two different camp sites on my way to the trail, but after that everything was in great shape. Easy going and just what I needed after a day of driving. The trail itself was okay. Peek-a-boo views of the surrounding mountains only served as a tease for the available terrain in the North Cascades. This trail was fine to get the legs going and the final view is worth it if you're looking to tire some kids out or get an overview of the area.
All in all it took around an hour and a half to do the whole trail while stopping to take photos. A nice easy going Saturday.

Really enjoyed this hike. Ninety degree weather was the hardest thing about this. Easy to follow, well maintained, and gentle grade. It was the perfect length and just difficult enough to get our hearts pumping (and sweating!). Some of our group was struggling, so just be sure to bring plenty of water on a hot day because there are no streams. The view at the top is slightly blocked by some trees, but pretty nonetheless. This is a great hike if you're camping in the area and looking for a fun way to get a workout in. We heard several birds and a grouse.
